Provider ceased to communicate or deliverCsaba: I write this review with profound disappointment. You were the first oDesk candidate about which I was genuinely enthusiastic. Our initial discussions were outstanding, your insight was valuable, and your initial code was good. I have 17 years experience with remote work and I felt very good about your ability to be a key contributor to my new business. However, as two of your other clients have noted, your communications then became flaky. First you stopped delivering any new code. Then you stopped communicating entirely. I had to terminate the assignment since you wouldn't even give me the courtesy of any reply to simple inquiries over the last two weeks. (You did find time to make frequent updates to your personal blog though.)I might understand if you had said "I'm overbooked". I might understand if you had said "I am no longer interested in your project". But NO RESPONSE AT ALL is insulting, unprofessional, and a waste of my time and money. Even though the project was listed as up to half-time work, you only gave me 19 hours over 8 weeks and I am left with no prototype to demonstrate, despite your promises. Clients have businesses to run and we rely on your promises. When we hire a programmer, it is a serious business decision, and that relationship needs to be treated with seriousness by you as well. Good freelancers learn that being honest and realistic with clients is as important as the quality of their code. You are smart and hopefully can listen to, and learn from, the feedback you are receiving, in order to reach your potential.
Provider failed to live up to any expectations. In working with him in the past on a smaller project, he did a great job. This is why I wanted to work with him again. But, there were many MAJOR problems with his work on the current project.- He promised to deliver certain portions of the project within one week, and after well over a month plus, he has not even completed any of these.- He disappeared for days and even weeks at a time without notifying me- He did not keep to any of the schedules that he agreed to keep- He was unresponsive to emails about his disappearances and lack of communication with me. I would get excuses after excuses, but no results.- After agreeing to take on my project and telling me that he had the skillset to complete it, he admitted to me that he did not have the skills needed to do the project and that he was "learning" how to do what was needed while the project was taking place. While I gave this provider more chances than I would normally give someone, he still completely let me down and hasn't delivered to me anything more than some useless code. I STRONGLY recommend anyone considering working with this provider RECONSIDER. I would be happy to share any email exchanges I have had with the provider where he has made promises and failed to live by them with anyone interested. While Csaba is indeed a nice person, his failures in this project have cost my business time and money and now I am going to have to start over with almost 2 months delay
