Eugene is very strange person. Shailesh started off well and it went smoothly till almost the end. He hired only Shailesh for his development and also hired a designer later on for very brief period from our company on Shailesh's recommendation.  Shailesh was his contact point and only developer working with him.

His instructions for core application were good. But he never gave instructions for smaller things which makes a site complete. So Shailesh filled  in the gaps by himself so that Eugene could review and let Shailesh know the changes and things he (Eugene) thought are inappropriate. Now the stuff where Shailesh filled in, Eugene called those things as error/bugs and wanted to get those updates done for free of cost. After some discussion and involving Shailesh's manager (manager was never hired by Eugene and never into picture before this point of time) to facilitate and satisfy client they agreed that Shailesh will do it without charging. (We thought Shailesh should have never filled in the gaps.. but he wanted to avoid micro management and load from client... good intentions doesn't pay off always).

Shailesh did stuff and uploaded everything on Eugene's server. There were some enhacement related issues (not bugs) which Eugene wanted to get done now. Shailesh did some of them but before he could complete all of them he fell ill (Jaundice... which was 1.5 months ago and he is still ill not able to recuperate and his illness has become life threatening). We didn't expected him (Shailesh) to be away for more than a month when we informed Eugene about Shailesh's illness.
We (as a company) informed Eugene about the situation. He wanted us to put in another developer on the project to finish AT OUR COST (invloving learning cost and completing cost). We refused as we said he did not hire our complete team (our company to do the project). He just hired Shailesh as a freelancer. And now he wants us to bear the learning cost which is not fair. If he would have hired our team which includes one project manager as well, he would have gotten a replacement developer at no extra cost. But Shailesh never recommended him since he (Eugene) always had budgetry constraints.
However, he (Shailesh) is still ill. Now Eugene expected us (company) to bear all the cost which was not possible. Since we were keen to complete the project amicably, we said we'll bear half the cost (though we are not suppose to) but he said no.

Crux is - why would you expect a company to put in multiple resources for you when you did not paid for them and didn't wanted services of a company as a whole (since it will increase the budget of the project).
