E-Commerce
10 yrs

2009
Since I started as an E-commerce developer in 1998, I've worked on about 700 individual web sites--everything from complete implementations from scratch to small tweaks on existing systems.
iPhone Development

2.0
2009
I'm growing my skill at developing native apps for the iPhone. It's very different from the sort of development I've done all my career, and it's stretching my brain in interesting and challenging ways.
MySQL

2009
Nearly every site I've ever built has been backed by MySQL. In my last job, I managed a MySQL database that had several multi-gigabyte tables with over 15 million rows.

Project Title:
Harlem Wizards Summer Camps
Attachment:

Completed:

Category:
Web Development > Ecommerce
URL:
http://camps.harlemwizards.com
Description:
Harlem Wizards is a basketball entertainment team that does summer basketball camps for youth in the Northeast. This site sells registration for these camps. Each camp has a broad range of rules governing the registration (age limits, discounts for multiple weeks, half/full day selection, full payment or deposit), etc.
I built a shopping cart system that verifies that the selection conforms to the product selection rules before it's allowed into the shopping cart. I also created a discount code system that allows percentage discounts for specific products, with fixed end dates.

Project Title:
Performance Yacht
Attachment:

Completed:
09/23/2008
Category:
Web Development > Ecommerce
URL:
http://www.pyacht.com
Description:
I built a complete, custom Ecommerce system for Performance Yacht.
A few key features:
Customer login and account retention. Customers can log in and view order history, quickly check-out with their stored data, etc.
Loyalty point system. They're called "Nautical Miles"--the customer earns one point per dollar spent, and spend worth 10 cents on future orders. At checkout time, the customer is shown their point balance and allowed to spend their points against the current order, or save them for later.
The customer provides quite a bit of their boating information when they register their account. We also watch them surf the site, and note what kind of products they visit. Based on those two things, we dynamically select which products to show them as featured products (the boxes on the right side of the screenshot, for instance).
Complete order management back-end, including an interface for customer service reps to enter orders from scratch, modify orders, communicate with customers, bill credit cards, enter shipping info, etc.
