I found working with Rohit and SoftProdigy a very mixed experience. Admittedly it could be my fault for being somewhat a hands off manager.Rohit in our interview claimed to be very highly skilled in flash+django.Once into the project I got emails saying he hadn't really done that. SoftProdigy presents itself as a solid corporation, they give a detailed estimate, with alll sorts of fancy spreadhsheets and agile methodology and use basecamp for the managment. Not quite what I was expecting, so even though I hired Rohit and had reasonably long discussions I found myself having to go through the same discussion as to what the project was manager who was relaying the information, which when I got back questions that indicated that the information wasn't being understood I started getting angry, they resolved it by making Rohit communicate more directly.I was asked to do much of the grunt work, I was asked to give a object model, database schema, which I basically did. that would have been enough for me to do the database schema in under an 2 hours. It took them 2 days. For one of the logging features I explicitly told them to use Python data structures and bypass the database in favor of memcached. They used the database instead . They did correct it but whyI alloted 80 hours to complete a report card application using some parts were tricky. I expected this to take about 2 weeks, as I am a software architect with tens of k on odesk, elance and scriptlance and knew how long it would take me (about a 4 days) We started in SeptRohit on average billed about 4 hours a day, (plus another 3 or so hours offline/not billled for mysterious, supposedly research ) dragging this project out to take almost 2 months and still not finishing it in that time. I'm sued to taking things I can't recitify the time spent with the work done. That said it did work just was significantly differnet than the spec I provided and so far from completion that I decided to cancel it, even though I'm sure it was probably only 20 hours or so more from his perspective, I just couldn't justify the time as I due to the delay rewrote the site and the functionality in php in less than 2 weeks and that has cost me significantly in my product launch.Your mileage might vary but I wouldn't use SoftProdigy again. it saddens me to say It was a C experience and I only keep A team.
