Role-Playing Games
I have played and refereed in various role-playing games most of my life. I currently referee a group of Dungeons & Dragons players, but have run or played Runequest, GURPS, Traveler, and Top Secret.
I have also applied the ideas and techniques I learned to role-playing activities as an educator and coach, giving clients new experiences, complicated problem-solving activities, and the chance to prove themselves in many situations that we'd rather not face - law enforcement and natural disaster preparation, for two examples.
Travel
I lived overseas in Taiwan for 11 years, working as a teacher, learning Chinese, and traveling. This has led to a wider skill set, a broader perspective, and an acceptance of things 'foreign' to my native country, the USA.
