My technical editing

I entered the technical writer and editor field as a result of Motorola / Freescale Semiconductor inquiring if I would do some technical editing for them. It was in early 2005--some seven months before Motorola spun off approximately 25% of its company and workforce--its entire semiconductor division.

That six-month full-time telecommuting position involved revising the assembler and compiler user guides for Freescale's 8-bit and 16-bit embedded microcontroller families. In addition, I created from the ground up, a tutorial for each of the four user guides, showing how to operate the standalone software aplications--replete with screen captures of the procedures.

After that assignment, I worked for a few other commercial firms, mostly as a technical editor and as a freelancer, getting work from various boards similar to oDesk. Since early 2006 to the present, I am continuing on as the lead technical editor for the OOoAuthors documentation project for the OpenOffice software suite.
