DAB Stocks (Aug 2004 – Nov 2005)
Tools & Technologies: Client/Server application using .NET Framework and .NET Compact Framework for Pocket PC. Custom security infrastructure similar to SSL using PKI and symmetric cryptography. (VB.NET)
Description: DAB Stocks is revolutionary concept in stock exchange data distribution. It makes use of the cutting-edge technology in audio broadcast known as DAB (Digital Audio Broadcast). Stock exchange data is inherently broadcast in nature, meaning a lot of users need to have access to same real-time data at the same time. Most data distribution systems are built on top of Internet technologies and rely on dedicated bandwidths to run properly. This kind of network configuration is very expensive for clients as well as feed vendors, because each client is served through a separate data channel.
In DAB Stocks, using DAB IP Gateways we connected our feed servers to DAB multiplexers. The data is distributed over the air using radio infrastructure. At receiver end we attach IP DAB receivers to client LANs and all the users on the network can have access to this data. The service is available on mobile terminals, and has absolutely no scalability issues.
A conditional access mechanism is built in the system to ensure that only valid users have access to the real-time feed. We integrated 10 leading stock exchanges to our server side infrastructure including SGX (Singapore), ASX (Australia), NZX (New Zeeland) and 8 European stock exchanges.
The concept was successfully demonstrated at Broadcast Asia Singapore (June 2005) and IBC Amsterdam (Sept 2005).

Role: Worked as the system analyst/programmer. I was responsible to complete development, which included
Participation in designing decisions and then implementation. I lead the development as well.

There are other projects as well which i developed by using .Net technology. Details can be provided on request.

National Power Data Bank (Sep 1999 – Dec 2000)
Tools & Technologies: Client/Server Application using Oracle and Developer
Description: Basically a client/server application for NPCC for their normal Daily entries such as MW, MVAR, Fuel consumption, energy etc. For all power stations in Pakistan. They take data from telephone and SCADA and enter it in oracle server through data entry screens. For each day they generate different reports through this system .One special feature is that they send a text file to Chief Engineer Advisor Power (CEAP) through oracle interface taking particular data from the server.
Historical data was in lotus sheets. To bring the data in server, system uses Macros for having required text files. Then through SQL Loader loads all text files into the server.
Role: My main responsibility was to design and develop with the help of software consultant Mr.Porcel from Germany.
