Project Description
Blackwells Auction is an auctioning application for conducting true live auctions online. The portal furnishes a sound collection of catalogs spanning across 120+ categories. It includes various set of features for listing and auctioning the items. Extensive email notifications mechanism helps the user keep track of the items that aregoing to be auctioned off. The auctions are mainly of 2 types viz.Individual & Event Auctions (Bulk Auctions). The For-Sale type is anadd-on feature that allows the seller to sell his/her items at a fixed price. Event Auctions are of various types such as Publicly available, Registered buyers only, registered and approved buyers only, fully private, Semi-private Auctions, etc. Some of the key modules in the web site are
• User Registration
• Item Listing & Item Preview: This module facilitates the listing of items to be auctioned off, along with the feature in which user can customize the entire UI for description page.
• Multi threaded Auction Engine with support for Proxy Bids: The robust auction engine can process several Auctions in parallel, along with the support for proxy bidding by the system on behalf of users.
• Flash & 3D Animated Live auctions with Reverse Ajax (Server Push): The whole auction scenario is animated to give a feel of true live auctions, wherein each user bid is broadcasted to all the users attending the auction via a Server Push method.
• Bulk Auctions: This feature enables a user to sell multiple items in a single auction as a series of sub-auction for each item. All the auction details captured are same as each individual auction.
• For Sale listing and buying: This facilitates the sellers to sell their items for a fixed price.
• Email Sender (for individual/Bulk mail sending)
• Watchlist and other activity Notification thru mails: All the activity notifications, related to the auctions are sent to the relevant users thru emails. It’s applicable for watchlisted users, Questions and answers by buyer/seller, post-auction details, etc.
• Scheduled batch job processor: This component supplies all the auction related information to the auction engine on a periodic basis.
