MAYA 6 yrs 4.0 2008 This has been my primary 3d package for the last six years. Maya allows me to produce work in 3d, whatever the project, be it print, animation or on the web. As it has been my primary 3d package I have used it on every 3d project for the last six years, I have produced characters, vehicles, houses, various props, and even entire islands in Maya. I have animated in Maya as well, and thus have a good understanding of the animation capabilities of the program.

For two major examples of my work in Maya, have a look at the following:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/switch/meta4orce - this was an animated series for the BBC, here in the UK, and I was responsible for all external shots, from the modeling and texturing, to the animation and rendering. The largest 'set' I had to build was the entire future, flooded London, which had to include major landmarks, such as Big Ben and The London Eye.

http://www.redparkcity.co.uk - I, along with three other colleagues, produced all of the 3d work for this 3d comic. I produced the stadium, island and city models, to name three of the larger models.

I have completed work more recently for a pre-school animated show for a channel on Sky TV in Italy, but that is still under NDA.
Photoshop 12 yrs 5.0 2008 Photoshop has been standard in my career no matter what I've been working on. It is essential for the graphic artist and since first using it in college I have never stopped. From work in graphic design and advertising I decided I wanted more creative work, and a job at a computer games company seemed like the logical next step. My Photoshop skills got me in to that job, as texture artist, and the games job got me in to 3d, and I've never looked back. All of my texturing work for my 3d projects is produced in Photoshop, as well as any other graphic or artistic work. I also use Photoshop to color and letter my comic book work.

For examples of my Photoshop work, have a look here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/switch/meta4orce - the animated series for the BBC that I worked on. I was responsible for all external shots, and all of my models were textured in Photoshop.

http://maxgorilla.com - my webcomic, which I do everything for. The pages are colored, lettered and finalized in Photoshop.

http://www.redparkcity.co.uk - the 3d comic I worked on for The Sun newspaper, here in the UK. Again, all textures produced in Photoshop, as well as compositing the 3d elements together in Photoshop, along with added photographic images, as well as painting with custom, and standard, Photoshop brushes.

Employment History
From To Company Title/Role Description
06/2008 06/2008 Cooltoon Television Limited 3d artist / Independent Contributor I was hired to produce all of the background elements for a new pre-school 3d animated show. This included modeling and texturing the two major sets for the show, one external, and interior set.

More cannot be said at this stage as the show is not public yet, and I am under a non-disclosure agreement.
01/2008 05/2008 Bloc Media Limited 3d artist/animator / Independent Contributor I was hired as a 3d artist to help produce the necessary 3d elements for Meta4orce, an animated series that ran on the BBC2 channel, here in the UK. I was initally hired to work for three or four weeks, but remained on for over four months as I became responsible for modeling and animating all external shots for the series. I had to model a flooded London city, set in the future, and had to include models of famous landmarks, such as Big Ben and The London Eye.  I also had to produce new, futuristic buildings, as well as a slum area. I modeled all but one vehicle, the Hovercraft. As mentioned earlier, I animated all of the external shots as well, which was my first animation job. This involved camera animation and vehicle animation, as well as camera tracking for export to After Effects.
10/2003 09/2007 News International Graphic Artist / Team Lead I was part of a team of four producing a daily 3d comic strip for The Sun newspaper, here in the UK. We were all equally responsible for producing the comic, which involved writing the scripts, modeling and texturing the 3d elements, posing the characters, setting up and rendering the scenes, and then compositing all of the elements together in Photoshop. We all had our various strengths, and mine seemed to be the building of the large sets, which included an entire football/soccer stadium, complete with empty seats or crowd, the fictional city of Red Park, and an entire, fictional, South Pacific island. We became accustomed to daily deadlines, because of the comic strip being in the paper or online daily, and as such developed a working method around this very tight schedule, unheard of anywhere else in 3d. We became good storytellers, storyboarders, modelers, texturers and Photoshop artists.
10/2002 09/2003 Striker 3d Ltd 3d artist / Independent Contributor I was a 3d artist for striker 3d, a 3d comic with a long history, that appeared daily in The Sun newspaper. I produced, and textured various models and sets, including the entire fictional city of Warbury itself. I also posed characters, set up scenes and lit and rendered them.
05/2000 06/2002 I-Imagine Interactive Lead Texture Artist / Team Lead I started at the company as a junior texture artist, and within months was lead texture artist. I was responsible for texturing the majority of the models in the game, and was eventually producing the models as well. The game, Chase: Hollywood Stunts, was released for the Xbox in late 2002.
Education
From To School Degree Area of Study Description
01/1996 11/1996 SA Arts & Crafts Diploma Graphic Design The was a one year intensive course, designed to accustom students with the real world work environment of advertising studios, which meant we attended college for an entire day, and not seperate little classes as is the case with most schools. We learnt the principles of graphic design, such as logos, branding, layout etc etc. The course also included Photshop training. By the end of that year we had portfolios ready for work in advertising/graphic design studios.
