I wrote my first HTML code over 10 years ago and ever since, I have enjoyed working with clients, helping to build their websites. I take pride in my work and being able to point to a website and say "I helped develop that site".
PHP/MySQL allows sites to both innovative, while at the same time supporting future expansion of your site. I'm also a big believer in the use of frameworks and CMS (content management systems) whenever possible to save clients time, reduce errors, and make code more maintainable. I'm particularly fond of jQuery and CodeIgniter.
As for the web markup itself, I only code in CSS and XHTML 1.0 Strict to keep your website as modern as possible. I don't do table-based layouts (although I'm happy to fix old sites and bring them up to current standards).
I'm happy to code a project to spec, but I'm also happy to suggest ways in which you can improve your site, either for search engine optimization (a specialty of mine) or to assist you in preparation for newer web browsers, so you don't later have to recode your site. I also have experience in ASP classic for those who need help converting to more modern languages.

I have been an active blogger and community participant. My personal blog,

I also write for

I am an excellent writer. Not only do I enjoy writing on a number of topics (community, family, business, technical, culture), I readily tackle unusual topics of nearly any non-fiction category.
My greatest strength and purpose in writing is to make my articles interesting to read. Simply regurgitating facts in paragraph form and using clever synonyms is hardly sufficient.
Writing needs to entertain and pull in the reader. I purpose to make my writing dramatic, highly informative, interesting, and if required, humorous or controversial.

my website
for more information on the type of work I do independently for local small businesses in Brevard County, Florida.
Note:
This is just for your reference. If you found me on ODesk, I will only do work for you via Odesk - not on the side. As most Odesk clients are not local to Brevard County, I prefer the convenience and usefulness of using the Odesk tools to work such that you, the client, are protected, as well as avoiding any misunderstandings. ODesk also allows me the benefit of being part of a larger project (team) than I could do on my own.

Other Experience
Father
I'm a father of six young children, all homeschooled, and all from the same woman: my beautiful wife. It's very true what they say about learning - that you learn best while teaching. Try teaching basic pre-algebra to a young child. It's a great refresher on all those great principles of mathematics that we've let rust in our brains. Physics, too!
World Travel
Believe it or not, I've flown over a half-million miles all over the world in my short 38 years on earth, and I've traveled to half of the United States. I've lived in Saudi Arabia and have traveled to about half of Europe, parts of the middle east, and even spent two weeks in Belize.
I'm still not done. Plans for future travel are in the works.

URL:

Description:
Brevard Web Hosting is my own website which I developed and created to market my web design services.
There were no client specs as this was (and still is) my own website.
Coded in XHTML 1.0 Strict tableless CSS (and validates).
Website currently consists of roughly 20+ "pages" many of which are dynamically generated via a backend content management system (CMS).
There is an active business blog on the website as well with a standard RSS 2.0 feed and a great "Getting Started" contact form.

URL:
http://www.expertlyorganized.com/
Description:
A simple clean four-page site that showcases the services of a professional home organizer.
Site is pure XTHML 1.0 Strict with CSS. Of particular note is that the entire site is wrapped into a content management system (CMS) so that the client can update any content (text / images) on the site without involving a web designer or without fear of breaking the site.
The "news" page functions much like a blog and gives each story it's own "page" (for search engine purposes). The client can easily cut and paste future news stories, create a custom quote excerpt, and the sytem will automatically post those new news stories at the top.

Category:
Web Development > Web Design
URL:

Description:
A basic brochure style site with a photo gallery, employee bio section, a class schedule, and more.
Site was originally developed in a tables-based layout. Currently, site is scheduled to be re-coded in XTHML 1.0 Strict as a table-less CSS design and then ported over to a content management system so client can make changes.
Because the client has constantly updating schedules, rehearsals, and recitals, it is far more affordable and worthwhile for the client to make these changes over the internet through an easy-to-use interface. Employees also come and go as well as classes that are added or dropped based on demand.
