oDesk lowers fees!

Dear oDesk Community,
Thanks to higher volume, oDesk is proud to announce that we’ve lowered our service fees!
Starting Monday, November 21, oDesk will charge only 30% on top of the provider's pay rate (which is 23% of the total bill rate), with a minimum fee of $3 per hour. This will be a major price reduction from our previous flat fee of $6 per hour. If your current assignment is operating under special promotional fees, please see the end of this email for details.* In the near future, we will itemize pay rates and bill rates separately on oDesk timelogs.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR BUYERS
If a provider earning $12/hour is currently being billed out at $18/hour, the new hourly billing rate for buyers will be:
Pay Rate: $12/hr
oDesk Fee: $3.60 (30% of $12)
Bill Rate: $15.60
Buyer savings: $2.40/hr
In any case where a current assignment had oDesk fees that were higher than the new lower fees, the assignment's bill rate has been lowered, and you have received separate email confirmation of each rate change.
You'll still receive the same great benefits: the oDesk network of pre-screened providers, our database of job openings, oDesk management tools, international payment processing, and high quality customer support, for up to $3 an hour less!
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR PROVIDERS
The pay rates to providers have not been affected by any of these changes. Only oDesk service fees have been adjusted. Providers, to calculate your total billing rate to buyers, simply add the maximum of either $3 per hour or 30% of your pay rate. Remember that the total billing rate to buyers is equal to your pay rate plus oDesk fees. Providers, if you would like to change your pay rate, email firstname.lastname@example.org. However, rate changes will not take effect until your next assignment.
Let us know if you have any questions. You can discuss them in our Community forum, email us at email@example.com, or call us at (866) 676-3375 (toll free in the US) or (408) 689-7000.
*Due to special promotions, select assignments have been operating for fees less than the new rate. These assignments will not be affected by our changes. However, once the assignments have concluded, the buyers and providers will switch to the new pricing guidelines.
