Error after logging in to oDesk

For months (I am sure) I have encountered this error a few times each time after logging in to oDesk:
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.
When I clicked 'To see what data this error report contains':
AppName:iexplore.exe AppVer:8.0.6001.18702 ModName:mshtml.dll
When I clicked 'To view technical information about the error report':
Another cryptic message followed by
The following files will be included in this error report:
Eventually 'We were unable to return you to odesk.com' It could usually return, anyway.
I am using (outdated) IE8 on Windows XP Professional.
