Protecting your oDesk Account

As oDesk has become a larger and more widely recognized brand, fraudsters have taken notice. It is increasingly important for all of us to become familiar with their tactics and learn how to avoid fraud.
Phishing is when a fraudster sends a message (email, skype, phone, etc.) falsely claiming to be from a company like oDesk or Facebook. This is done to trick you into clicking to a fake website or calling a phone number where they can gather your sensitive personal information. The result can be identity theft, where someone takes your personal information and makes unauthorized use of it. oDesk takes phishing and identity theft seriously. To protect our users we will suspend accounts where we suspect fraudulent activity.
We ask that everyone be vigilant in all your communications. Avoid clicking on links, opening attachments, or providing usernames and passwords. Please report any phishing attempts you experience through oDesk to our support center.
