Wire transfer to Bangladesh (BDT)

I was confused about the withdrawal method. I discussed with customer care agents of odesk, and they recommended Wire transfer as cheapest method. I have payonner which I recently got. But I liked to used My Prime Bank.

So, I selected wire transfer to my Prime Bank, Mouchak Branch, Dhaka.

I clicked on the withdraw button at around 10 am and received the money at 3 pm!!! May be the money was received by my bank earlier than 3 PM.

I withdrew $51 as a test and received BDT 4,100+ !!! But this is the first withdrawal that is without $4.99 odesk fee Sad

Wire transfer seems good and recommended.

What is the Swift code?

What swift code did you use? 8 letters or 11 letters?

Odesk doesn't have swift code for my branch? What to do in this case?

Can I just use the 8 letters code "DBBLBDDH"?
Thanks in advance.

SWIFT code is a standard format of Bank Identifier Codes

Hi Sakib Moon,

SWIFT code is a standard format of Bank Identifier Codes (BIC) and it is unique identification code for a particular bank just like your oDesk username.

SWIFT Code consists of
-First 4 characters - bank code: DBBL
-Next 2 characters - country code: BD
-Next 2 characters - location/city code: DH
-Last 3 characters - branch code, optional ('XXX' for primary office)

It is clear that 8 letters compulsory and last 3 letters optional for branch. So you can easily use head office SWIFT code: DBBLBDDH and type correctly your account number and Branch name exactly as on bank's check book in account holder information.
Go ahead.

So, you mean If I use the

So, you mean If I use the head office SWIFT code for the local branch there will be no problem.

Hi Maruf, You need to

Hi Maruf,

You need to have the exact same name here on your oDesk profile as what is on your bank account title in order for the wire transfer to be successful.

You can change your name only once, and will have to verify your ID for it.

Hope this helps.

ID verification.

Can not I withdraw money through wire transfer without ID verification?

Hi Taher, You can withdraw

Hi Taher,

You can withdraw your funds without verifying your identity and only need to make sure that your oDesk profile name matches your bank account title.

If your oDesk profile name is not the same as your bank account title, then you'll need to change it to the legal name as it appears on the bank account title, and to do so, you'll need to verify your identity.

I Have a question. My bank address is,
"HOUSE 500-A/1 , ROAD NO 8, DHANMONDI R/A
DHAKA, 1205, BANGLADESH"

But when I go to enter that info in my Withdrawal method. There isn't enough space
to fill that info. So how can I enter my full bank account address with this limited
space.

Hi Taz, You'll need to

Hi Taz,

You'll need to confirm this with your local bank branch to avoid any issues with a transfer. Call or visit your bank and ask for the person who deals in foreign remittance. They'll guide you and give you the correct info.
