Wire transfer

Don't you people think the bank exchange rate of Odesk's bank is very low?

I used to withdraw money with Skrill from 6 months, they transfer in dollars and my bank exchange rate is only 30-50 paisas less than open market currency rate and money transfers in 24-36 hrs in my account. I was satisfied with the procedure but when my transactions reached $1000, they start deducting $25 on each transaction of more than $100 (intermediary bank fee) which I can't afford to pay.

I used odesk wire transfer last month, but the inter bank exchange rate was 3-4 rs. less than open market dollar rate and I received money after 4 business days.

Did anyone have the same experience?

One more thing, please tell the benefit of using Standard Chartered Bank (or any other international bank)... SC is not in the list of odesk banks for wire transfer.

Do odesk deduct $30 for SC as well per wire transfer?

Please guide.

SCB only supports USD wire transfer from odesk, and odesk deducts $30 for SCB withdrawal. I have had 1 withdrawal experience with SCB so far, and I received conversion rate from SCB even less than odesk LFT rate (0.20-0.50 RS difference) but i received the amount within 36 hours.

Sonia, if you want to do a

Sonia, if you want to do a USD wire transfer, simply click the blue link that says My local bank is set up to receive US dollars. Once you click it, you'll see that the fee changes from $4.99 to $30. You can now do a USD wire transfer.

Hope this helps!

I have been using

I have been using Moneybookers since 2009. I have performed nearly 4-5 transfers (since I combined the amounts in MB before transferring to Bank Alfalah Islamic). My biggest concern was that the payment usually took 6-8 business days and if there was any glitch in the system, it would take even longer. The Alfalah staff was not updated on Moneybookers operations/transfer AT ALL. So, it didn't help the situation. I would rather have 30USD deducted and a lower exchange rate than to spend a week or two worrying about the payments reaching me.
I do have a query though:
I'm resuming oDesk work after quite a while and would want to know Wire Transfer through SCB is reliable or not? Are there any additional fees from SCB end? Whats the current rate like?
Your help is much appreciated Smile

Sobia, SCB works great with

Sobia, SCB works great with USD wire transfers. No additional fees, you only pay the $30 fee that oDesk charges. THe funds reach mostly within 24 hours, but nay take up to 72 hours on some occasions. The only issue is that their interbank rate is low. If you have a USD account, then go for SCB, it will work fine.

Local currency wires to SCB don't seem to work well. So if you plan on doing a local wire, then kindly use one of the approved banks.

I made a transaction in 02/02/2013 , still havnt got the payment in SCB pakistan yet ?

Any idea how much time will it take

Thanks

Umer, as far as I know, SCB

Umer, as far as I know, SCB local wire transfers are problematic. Do check your transactions page to see if the funds were reversed. If not, then you can request a trace after 10 business days of requesting the withdrawal.

LFT requests are processing within 72 hours now

LFT are being processed within 72 hours now, so if you are planning to use USD wires to get your request processed quickly, you will get the money in same time with LFT too, with less fee deduction and probably a bit better exchange rate.

Yes your "first withdrawal transfer on odesk" is free. It doesn't matter if you use LFT or USD wire, it'll be free and after that, you will be charged for every LFT or USD withdrawals you request.

Ahsan only the first LFT

Ahsan only the first LFT withdrawal is free, you do have to pay for USD wire even the first time...
