YouTube video downloader

Hi,

I just want to get your ideas on how to download videos from YouTube. In my line of work, it's imperative that I have this ability to download videos. I have a Firefox video downloader installed. It has been the application of choice when it comes to YouTube video downloads, but now it has stopped working.

Upon further research on the Net, it seems that YouTube changed their permissions and would not let netizens download from its site, so the various video downloaders on the Net are useless when it comes to video downloads.

My question is, is there an application or a technique to go around this? Or is there an application left on the Net that I could use, paid or free?

Thank you for your help and God bless....

How?

Hi Junelle,

Could you share what application you use to download videos from YouTube because I can't seem to download videos anymore. It seems to download, but it has zero bytes....

But if you can tell me what application you use, I might take a look and see if it would work for me. Thanks. I appreciate your input on this...

I don't think you can "legally" download anything and use it...

I am not sure there is a LEGAL / YouTube ToS and Copyright compliant way that could let you download YouTube content and use it for commercial purposes, which is what you would be doing if you used the content for your freelancing work?

Edited to add: You are a transcriptionist. If you are asked to transcribe the client's own YouTube videos you could ask the client for the original.

Transcribing and commercially using the transcription of someone else's copyrighted work is a bit of a legal and/or contractual minefield.

I appreciate that's not what you asked, though.

Good luck in your search for the right programme!

Thanks Petra

Yes, I am transcribing their own work, so that's not the issue here. I just said that I can't download even the client's video straight from YouTube unlike before.... just to clarify....

That makes sense

Can you ask the client for the source file?

Have you tried if this works? It's what I used to use - but I haven't tried since the summer.

If other people don't have problems and you do: Is it possible that "something" is interfering with your download? Like a security setting or some weird firewall feature on your PC or something like a blocker, strange setting, software or even a virus?

I don't know if it's a virus

Okay, thank you for your input. I'm going to try it, but hopefully it's not a virus. Thanks again Petra for the input. God bless...
