oDesk Notification system

I recently applied for a post and received a notification that my application had been declined. I have no problem with that, as it is part of the process. However, the potential client included a derogatory comment as an additional message.

I am new to oDesk and still trying to build a reputation, so this came as quite a shock. I have a few concerns and questions in this regard and will be grateful for any feedback:

1) There appears to be no way to respond to a notification. Is this correct?

2) Does this sort of thing happen regularly and, if so, is there a remedy for it?

3) Why are "The company's reason for ending the application" and "Additional Message from Client" only visible in the e-mail from oDesk and not in my Notifications area?

4) Is this information visible anywhere on my profile, especially to other prospective clients, and will it affect my chances of being hired in the future?

I look forward to any clarification and advice in respect of the above.

Good question. I guess the answer is because oDesk doesn't feel like doing it.
