Contractor not delivering and profile now deleted

I hired my programmer 2 months ago to build an app from scratch plus graphics. It started out great and I received the icon right away. It looks great. Then I received the background a short time later. Now I was suppose to receive my first prototype 4 weeks ago and still nothing. Lots of excuses. This is my first time using oDesk and I have made some mistakes with contract agreement because we agreed on a fixed price, but setup an hourly contract. I have not been charged more than we agreed upon but have reached top budget. Last night my contracted ask for more money. When I went to review their profile under contractors it is gone. Their employee I hired as well cannot be found on oDesk anymore. Any advice?

Please help?

contact customer support immediately!

I'm sorry this has happened to you! Obviously "something" went wrong with those contractors. Please contact customer support and discuss what your options are at this stage. Take a VERY close look at the work diary for last week (which is still within the review period) so you can dispute anything that may have been wrongly added.

Be very careful in case the contractors contact you outside of oDesk. Don't do anything "outside" and certainly don't send them any more money. If the contract is still open limit the hours to 0 - although unfortunately that will only take effect from next week. Having said that, if their accounts are really gone they're "gone" anyway.

You may want to ask support what will happen to any payment that has not been paid to the contractors yet. If their accounts are gone I don't think (but you must check as I am not sure) any pending money will go to them so you may be able to reclaim any such payment.

As I said, get in touch with support immediately, good luck and let us know what happens.

Rhonda, I'm sorry you had a

Rhonda, I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Kindly contact Customer Support to report the contractor. You can dispute the hours billed last week till Thursday (Client review period).

Are you sure the contractor has closed down their profile? Check the contract and see if you can click on the contractor's name and see their profile?

Do report them to Support asap so that they can take care of this issue for you.

Always reach for the skies, for even if you fall, you'll still be on the top of the world...

Customer support ignores you. What's the point?

What's the point in contacting customer support? They simply don't respond to inquiries.

I had a contractor install malware on my servers. Customer Support didn't even pretend to look at the evidence. I offered it, they never even asked.

The process is a joke.

Here's my story. https://www.odesk.com/community/node/29190

If I'm not mistaken,

there is another forum post about this same subject. Wow. Again.

Same client, same problem.

So sorry to hear that, but Karma is a *** he'll get his due in time. Though it was really an expensive lesson learned.

Rhonda, I would happily and cheerfully strangle your contractor.

How did "o-Desk resolve" the issue? If you didn't get any money back and you didn't and won't get an app you paid for - how was it "resolved?"

I can't believe that contractor threw away everything he clearly worked long and hard for.....
