oDesk Readiness Test - Phase 2 Launched

We are very pleased with the adoption rate of the oDesk Readiness Test that was released 2 weeks ago. Over 2,500 providers have taken the test so far! Overall the feedback has been positive regarding the test's length, content, and level of difficulty.

As promised, we are launching the second phase of the oDesk Readiness Test. This means buyers will now be able to explicitly search for and find oDesk Ready providers in provider search. Providers' public profiles will also reflect the fact that they are oDesk Ready. We are also going to enforce provider oDesk Readiness by setting the job application quotas for all providers who are not yet oDesk Ready to ZERO. Therefore, all freelancers, company managers, and affiliated contractors on oDesk will have to become oDesk Ready before they can apply to any more jobs.

No worries Ivan, you have be officially declared 'oDesk Ready'

You can check if you're oDesk Ready by going to My oDesk -> Profile & Settings -> My Provider Profile - it's just above the profile completeness bar in My Account Summary. Or just look on your public profile - it's in the right hand part under 'total assignments'.

Hi Jacqui, Excuse me but I'm

Hi Jacqui,

Excuse me but I'm not pretty sure what do you mean with "Your profile is private"...

Status which I see in my profile's page after login:

Profile Access: Public
Show my Full Name: no
Primary Role: Programmer / Developer

May be it's a kind of issue and I should to submit a help ticket? Or?

Thanks&Regards,
Andrei

I thought your profile was

I thought your profile was private because when I click on your name in your forum post, I get Access Denied. You should submit a help ticket about that. It may have something to do with you being one of oDesk's early providers.

I did a provider search and found you though - so your profile is indeed public.

Now to answer you question about oDesk Readiness. Only providers who had worked on assignments recently were grandfathered in. You haven't had an active assignment in almost exactly 1 year.

So despite the fact that you've earned more money than the vast majority of oDesk providers you are not 'oDesk Ready.' You will need to take the test. The reason for this being done is that the site and system have changed dramatically over the past year. Please look at this as a learning experience, an opportunity to learn about new features and policies you might not know about. We're certainly not trying to punish you.

Important note for providers

Important note for providers who signed up more than two weeks ago:

While downloading the oDesk client is mandatory, accessing the Pioneer Training Team is only recommended (we're updating the language on the testing page to reflect this). You may take the test without having access to the training team room. There is absolutely nothing to stop you from taking the test without have logged some practice time first.

Re the Readiness Test

I have just finished taking the Readiness Test, but when I try to apply for a job, I get the "You are required to pass the oDesk Readiness Test in order to apply to jobs on oDesk." Have re-took the test again, and again I get the same message. What should I do in this case?

Rowena, please submit a help

Rowena, please submit a help ticket if you still can't apply to a job. You public profile currently shows you are in fact oDesk Ready - you even have two oDesk Readiness Tests visible (please hide one of them in My oDesk -> Get Hired -> My Tests). Here's the link to your public profile: http://www.odesk.com/users/~~ae5d1e1c7b87a3f2

ORT - not fair to inactive Team Members

The questions which I "failed" were because, as a non-active ODesk "Team Member," I could not access the screenshots that were provided in the test, and could not, therefore figure out what the heck you were talking about (first tip: if you're going to use a screenshot, use one that can be read; second tip: use something anyone can access). And, because I had to re-click a page or two, I lost questions.

Personally, I think this "test" is ridiculous and places providers in a position of being treated as kindergarteners. The fact that you force us to take it to be eligible is shameful, as far as I'm concerned.

If there is a problem with

If there is a problem with any of the images, we certainly need to address that right away. Did the image just not display? Was there a link that you could not access? Was the problem in the test itself on in the linked help content? We could use a little more info to help track down the issue so we can correct it. None of the links in the test should go to screenshots that could have team-based access issues. You may post back here, or submit a help ticket to officially report the problem with the test.

I thank you for taking the time to post a message. All feedback (positive and negative) is greatly appreciated. I am very sorry you were upset by having to take this test. It's certainly not meant to be belittling. The point was to teach providers about oDesk policies and best practices. This in turn makes it easier for them to succeed in their applications and assignments.

not odesk ready

i have billed hours but im still not odesk ready yet. why?

I believe the reason may be

I believe the reason may be that you were first hired too shortly before the launch of the ORT. Please take the test to be able to apply to further job openings.
