WARNING - Search providers is "Search titles only" by default

If a new possible buyer inquiry the providers by some specific technology maybe get disappointed because it returns those providers that mention this specific key in their titles, then the possible buyer will look for other online work resource.

I think that “Search in titles only” should be unchecked by default.

How do others feed about the new search default?

Also think it should be

Also think it should be unchecked or searching by provider _names_ also when checked.

names

We are experimenting with "titles only" because in general it yields more targeted results. However, I agree that it should include names. We are working on it. Thanks for the feedback.

I think most of the oDesk

I think most of the oDesk buyers are small/medium enterprises, and probably they looks for a generic solution, I need a web page, need client/server application, etc., no matter the technology (and maybe they even don't know about this).

Anyway, if they need for example a web page in PHP, they will get all PHP web developers by using "web php" key searching without "Search by title" option.

And could be a good idea to return the search result sorted by expertise if a technology is mentioned in the search key.

"titles only" now expanded

We have expanded the "titles only" default setting so that it includes the name of the individual as well as the name of the individual's provider company, if any.

We will be working on improving our search/matching relevance over the next couple of months.

While I agree ,

While I agree your point of Relevancy, it also limits the provider exposure drastically (i am telling this from my experience, as previously i get around 5-10 int requests a week, now its close to 2 or something)

This is a good feature, but as someone pointed before, new buyers may get disoriented due to this.

In case a feature request vote is solicited, I'd say give the buyer an advanced search by default..so they can search the skillset/project experience according to their requirement.

Thanks,

Ramkumar -Chennai.

I agree that  it's disconcerting to have it checked by default and would prefer to see it as an option versus an automatic default.  Doreen
