0.01 $ per hour?

A sufficient explanation was given, so I have deleted this post.

Don't want to step on anyone's feet here...

Good trick ;)

It's good trick to move your profile in search results. And in case the customer was also from the same country Wink The price is 3.9$ It's not so big cost for 3,933 hrs in oDesk profile. I think oDesk should to do some protection from such "SEO".

For example set minimum bid to 1$, 390$ isn't acceptable price i guess Smile

indeed...

We see a lot of $0.01/hr "work". Some is "legitimate" where people want to use our manage platform and don't realize they can just invite "colleagues" into their teams. There is some abuse, however, where people arrange to be "hired" at $0.01 to build hours. We can close the loophole a couple of ways -- we could charge a minimum oDesk Service Fee per hour of $0.10 or $0.20 or something, for example. What do you think?

Michael

I'm not so sure

Michael, I'm not so sure this is the answer. What about those of us who are legitimately using those set ups? There are a few of us.

Doreen

elaborate!

Doreen - perhaps you can elaborate on how you use it?

Sure

without going into too much detail you know of the arrangement I have with one buyer. The job doesn't show up in my profile. He 'set up' a 1c per hour job so he could give feedback (and show up in profile as work performed also).

Doreen

HIDDEN JOB IN YOUR PROFILE???

Now you got my attention!!!

Can you please explain how you have a job which does NOT show up in your profile!

Furthermore, I have thought one more time about the explanation someone has given here about project managers working for 0.01$:  "some companies provide a free project manager when you hire xyz amount of people from them" - So, does this mean the project manager works for his company for free? Or will he get paid for this job "under the table"? What does a project manager, who charges 1 cent an hour, live on?

Rick

Sounds good, even $1/hr

Sounds good, even $1/hr would be fine.

Agreed.

Hi,

$1

I agree with $1. It means any job that involves a provider who works less than $10 an hour would have to pay more as service fee. It may also bring down the number of openings that request providers to bid at less than a dollar. It's good for oDesk too!!!

Pothi

In this particular case,

In this particular case, the provider company simply provides the services of a project coordinator for free when you hire several members of their team - or as close to free as is possible and still have the user appear on the buyer's oDesk reports.

Agreed

Yes,

But I'm talking about that it's pretty cheap to create a lot of logged hours.

Don't log hours.

Don't log hours if you are working for free. Or use fixed price job then.
