Job opening updation by buyer

I think a majority of oDeskers would face this problem like me.  When a buyer updates a job, there is no way to respond to him, and in most of the cases, the job opening ends with the buyer choosing another provider.  Only the 'Apply' button is available, and if I try to post a message to a buyer stating that I agree to his new terms and press the 'Apply' button, it states error occurred - provider has already applied for this job.  Kindly advise me how to respond to a buyer if the buyer updates his opening.
