We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Underwriting Specialist to assist with the preparation and submission of a funding application under the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA 30) guidelines issued by LA County. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis and underwriting, with specific experience in public funding processes.

Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive financial underwriting and analysis to ensure compliance with LA County’s NOFA 30 guidelines.
Prepare and assemble financial documentation and underwriting reports required for the funding application.
Work closely with our project team to integrate financial data and project specifics into a coherent and compelling funding proposal.
Analyze financial risks and prepare mitigation strategies to enhance the application's strength.
Ensure all financial models and forecasts are accurate and align with the project’s goals and requirements as stipulated by LA County.
Provide strategic advice to enhance financial narratives and improve funding chances.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in local government funding mechanisms and financial compliance requirements.
Requirements:

Proven experience in financial underwriting, preferably within the context of public sector funding or similar frameworks.
Excellent knowledge of the financial guidelines and requirements specific to LA County’s NOFA 30 or similar funding notices.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to prepare detailed financial reports and forecasts.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; a Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet tight deadlines.
Contract Details:

This is a freelance position and will be project-based.
Remote work is acceptable; however, availability for occasional meetings (virtual or in-person) is preferred.
