I am looking for someone with good spatial problem solving skills and attention to detail to help with designing data collection routes for our urban heat island mapping campaigns. For the past five summers, hundreds of community volunteers from around the country have participated in these heat island mapping campaigns in which they drive sensors along pre-planned routes to sample temperature and humidity across urban areas. Using the results, we generate models of urban heat that help cities to take action to mitigate heat and safeguard the health and wellbeing of residents who need it the most. This position involves taking "places of interest" and designing driving routes according to specific criteria on the Google platform, My Maps. While we have attempted to automate this routing problem (i.e. the "traveling salesman"), for a number of reasons, this process still requires careful manual design of routes. We are looking for someone who can perform the route design steps in My Maps according to our criteria and make adjustments based on feedback. The position will involve likely 20 to 40 hours/week during June and July. If someone is able to fulfill this position and also develop/prove an automated approach, we can discuss expanding the scope of this project.

Need a database utilizing the Google Suite (I think using AppSheets?) to capture all components of a Total Quality Management (TQM) system using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) methodology. I should included the fields that facilitate the comprehensive data collection, analysis, and action planning in addition to general fields like Organization/department, Project/Initiative, Process or Tool, Status, Comments/Notes, results/outcomes, documentation, results/outcomes, timeline/status, reporting and analysis, etc. As with any db, we need the ability to export the data into nice reports. I've attached a word doc that spells it out in more detail in 3 various ways to ensure I don't miss anything. :-)

The Center for Research and Evaluation on Education and Human Services (CREEHS) at Montclair State University (MSU) is seeking a freelancer for temporary work as a consultant to provide mapping services using geographic information systems (GIS). The ideal candidate will have proven experience in developing GIS-based mapping platforms, preferably in the context of public health or social services, including the use of Census/ACS demographic data. The candidate will also be proficient in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar tools as well as have at least some familiarity with quantitative data analysis. This project is part of a statewide needs assessment for which a set of key indicators are to be mapped to illustrate the geographic distribution and overlap of available assets and current needs. As part of this work, the GIS consultant will help to design and publish a mapping platform with interactive (i.e., user can toggle them on or off) data layers. To be able to complete this project: - CREEHS will provide a database with a list of asset locations to be mapped. - CREEHS will provide data on needs and outcomes, as well as census block group level data from the U.S. Bureau of the Census. - The Consultant will develop a mapping platform using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) to visualize geographic data layers. - The Consultant will integrate spatial data sets, including demographic data, asset locations, outcome rates, and other relevant information. - The Consultant will customize the mapping platform, with CREEHS input, to allow for user data filtering and visualization of multiple layers. The majority of work will take place in May and June 2024, with some additional hours in July. It will require some back-and-forth conversations, possibly by Zoom, with our team. If you are interested in this work, please provide us with an estimated cost to complete the tasks outlined above along with the number of hours you anticipate it may take.
