I'm looking to create a floorplan and visually appealing home addition layout that seamlessly combines open and separate spaces. This project will encompass a multipurpose space that needs to house the laundry, mudroom, powder room, storage for vaccums/cleaning closet, and office in my house. The approach should offer the perfect balance of coziness and functionality, reflecting a cozy traditional style throughout the areas. The design should be strategic to ensure that it ages well with my kids and fully utilizes available space. Key Requirements: - Experience in using a blend of open and separate space design - Ability to prioritize laundry and mudroom, as they are crucial for space allocation - Creativity in injecting a cozy traditional style through the design, I prefer a more european style, however the rest of my home is very traditional. - Strong reference of designs that age well with growing kids in sports and spend a lot of time outside Context: I have a rough drawing of our current home layout. We are adding on a garage that will be 28x26 ft and tying it into the house via a 12x26 addition. This addition needs to serve as an office (12x roughly 10 ft) and then a multipurpose space which will be 12x 16ft. I am obviously not an architect so my home layout I created is not perfect but give you an idea of where things are located and the house is 26 ft long where we are adding on Try to keep the laundry and powder room near each other for plumbing/money saving purposes. The garage will be insulated so there is room for storage in there for snow gear (Minnesota winters) and sporting equipment for the kids, but I would like something like lockers and a bench in the mudroom to store backpacks and coats inside. The porch is on the north side of the house living and dining room faces the South. The house faces a lake to the North so I would love as much lighting as possible on the North side. Powder room MUST be at least 3.5 ft wide or have a pocket door. My parents have a 3x7 powder room and it is too narrow. Powder room only needs to have toilet and sink. Laundry must be for a top loading machine NOT front load and no stacking of machines. Ideally the dryer would be on the north wall for ventilation purposed. Need room to hang clothes Need room for drying rack Understanding that the areas for laundry and mudroom are my top priority will be essential to the success of this layout.
