Hello! You would think that changing the name of a sole proprietor, pass-through LLC would be straightforward! I certainly thought so! But it has been driving me batty trying to figure out how to do this. 1. The IRS website says that I have to send a letter of the name change to Kansas City; so I did that, but they give me no documentation back, no online portal and no paperwork. https://www.irs.gov/businesses/business-name-change 2. The New York Department of State provides a form to fill out and asks for a 60 dollar fee. I had never registered with NYS Department of State before so I just filed it with the IRS letter. https://dos.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2019/01/2118-f.pdf 3. But the most important change is inside the SAM system; they ask for documentation of the change in the name. Can someone help me with this?
