We are looking for an IT Systems Engineer to be on a monthly retainer. The agreement would include a set monthly retainer for an agreed upon number of hours. Additional hours will be billed at an agreed upon rate above and beyond the retainer. Chosen resource will have a a response requirement in order to continue on with the agreement. Would like someone with the following skill sets. Looking mainly for after hours and weekend support to augment our current 24x7 operations. Successful candidates will have the skill sets below and be willing to respond to short notice, after hours requests to escalate to an engineer level resource when our current team has an issue with patching, migration activity or other engineering level needs. Level Scope This role is responsible for managing and troubleshooting various servers in physical and virtualized environments. Primary point-of-contact for the administration and support of Dell server and storage environments, Windows, Linux, and VMWare systems, along with the storage and network environments. Skill Set • Systems Administration and Enterprise experience, including but not limited to MS Windows, UNIX/Linux operating system environments • Windows Servers, 2012, 2016, 2019 • Linux Servers (Ubuntu, RedHat, CentOS) • VMware or Citrix Administration • VMware Horizon or Citrix VDI • Hyperconverged Infrastructure (VxRail, Nutanix, PowerFlex, etc.) • Installing and configuring network switches • SAN and NAS storage including Fiber Channel switches Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Performs routine patching, upgrades, and health checks of servers, applications, and technology. • Maintain, upgrade, secure, and performance tune IT infrastructure. • Proactively monitors infrastructure and appropriately responds to alerts, notifications, and issues impacting performance. • Creates and maintains documentation of systems processes, standards, and configuration. • An escalation point for Information Service Desk Analysts • Troubleshoots Windows and ESXi server OS issues; independently utilizes all available resources (knowledge bases, online resources, etc.) to ensure timely resolution of server issues. • Follows operating procedures and utilizes established support tools for analysis and reporting requirements. • Performs regular system maintenance, hardware, and software upgrades, physical to virtual migrations and performance tuning. • Interfaces with hardware vendors to maintain and schedule repair of equipment in a timely manner and /or provide hardware repair and maintenance as required. Virtualization/Infrastructure Management • Fundamental knowledge of VMWare ESXi/vSphere VMWare technologies, including vRealize and vRealize Operations, and licensing. • Familiarity with VMWare migration/deployment techniques, as cloning, VRA blueprint, OVF template. • Knowledge with VMWare NSX as well as VMWare vSAN technologies and/or SAN/NAS administration such as fiber channel networking, volume management fundamentals and performance tuning. • Ability to use scripting, such as PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python to automate tasks and deployments. • Strong knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) • Solid experience and familiarity with Microsoft Azure interface, including migration techniques, support, and security using the portal or command line. • Networking knowledge router/switch configuration, IP addressing, subnet masking and IP scope definition. • Experience with monitoring and managing Hyperconverged environments such as VxRail
