Job Description: We are looking for a skilled WordPress Specialist to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the performance of our WordPress site, ensuring optimal functionality and user experience. This role involves updating plugins, maintaining up-to-date WordPress files, and supporting various departments including Operations, Sales, Events, Editorial, and Art with their backend needs. Responsibilities: Regularly update and maintain plugins and WordPress files to ensure site reliability and security. Manage WordPress firewall setup and maintenance. Assist in the development of the WordPress site, including coding and creating new pages as required. Provide support for large uploads, such as Special Editions, and ensure smooth operation of the backend. Conduct WordPress hosting updates and make continuous improvements to enhance site performance. Participate in weekly strategy meetings to discuss ongoing projects and site enhancements. Prioritize tasks and goals in monthly meetings with the team. Respond to issues within 24-48 hours to ensure minimal disruption to site operations. Handle website migration from current partners and setup fast, reliable hosting environments using preferred platforms such as WpEngine, Bluehost, or Cloudways (DigitalOcean, AWS, etc.). Ensure LA Business Journal retains ownership of the hosting account and code repository, with Brenton Way granted Admin access to perform necessary tasks. Requirements: Proven experience in WordPress site maintenance and development. Strong understanding of WordPress architecture, including themes, plugins, and security best practices. Experience with website migration and hosting setups. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines. Strong communication skills and ability to participate in strategy and prioritization meetings. LA Business Journal is responsible for hosting costs.
