Linux System Admin Job Description Overview: The Linux Systems Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of our Linux-based systems. They will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our IT infrastructure, supporting our mission-critical operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Linux operating systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities: • Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems and related software applications. • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively, ensuring high availability and reliability. • Perform routine system updates, patches, and upgrades to enhance security and performance. • Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats. • Collaborate with other IT teams to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements. • Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures. • Provide technical support and assistance to end-users as needed. • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to system emergencies outside of normal business hours. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). • Proven experience as a Linux Systems Administrator or similar role, with at least [X] years of experience. • Strong proficiency in Linux operating systems (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat) and command-line tools. • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). • Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing). • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for automation tasks. • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) is a plus. • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels.
