Co-location Hardware Recommendations for Very Large Traffic Network

Co-location Hardware Recommendations for Very Large Traffic Network

Job Description

I plan to move away from managed hosting to purchasing our own hardware, then moving to a co-location data center in efforts to reduce our costs significantly

We are currently getting massive amounts of traffic to our network of websites, in the range of 500 million+ hits per day and expect these numbers to grow past 2 billion hits per day. We are also using approximately 100,000 - 250,000 GB of bandwidth per month. More details about our network, the servers we are currently using, etc.. will be given upon finding the right contractor

1. Recommend the hardware required for a cluster, including Switches, Racks, Servers, etc.. everything we will need from A to Z to make a successful migration to Co-location hosting
2. Help me understand the tradeoffs between price, speed, and uptime of the hardware
4. Recommend to us options for server security and ensure performance is optimal
5. Recommend how we should go about setting up our network hardware to ensure it is optimal for continued growth so we don't experience any issues with scalability, including hard disk/CPU/memory usage.

1. Prior experience in setting up and configuring servers, especially with Apache/Lightttpd/PHP/mySQL
