Illustrator for Children's Book Project #12 Asian Fairy Tale
Closed - This job posting has been filled.
PLEASE Read the entire job posting description and follow the directions
completely. It is a waste of your time to just blast us with your information
without following the instructions...that is if you're truly interested in the job.
For this project, we need approximately 40 color illustrations for a children's
book we're doing. It's an Asian Fairy Tale complete with Prince and beautiful Asian
maiden and castle, etc. Illustrations need to be bright and engaging for
6 to 12 yr olds.
One of the images will be used for the cover art.
We're looking for something with bright, dynamic colors,
simple backgrounds, high contrast and engaging characters that would
appeal to kids.
We will retain all rights to the artwork for the project, and need the illustrations
submitted as both jpg and psd
We have several projects, so the potential for multiple gigs is possible if we like
what you do, and you're easy to work with.
Please submit a cover letter indicating your understanding of the requirements
and why you'd be a good fit for this gig, as well as a quick b&w sample sketch
of the illustration described in the following paragraph. Just a quick thing, doesn't need to be fleshed out
with a lot of details. We want to see what your vision is primarily for the
main characters - because that is the focal point of the story. (You retain all the rights to
your sample.) But they need to have personality and character.
and be likeable and engaging...like a Disney or Dr Seuss story.
Sample sketch: Beautiful Asian princess outside of a small rustic cottage in the
woods frightened as the handsome Asian prince is riding up on his horse.
We also ask for you to send us a sample because we need to see if you are
willing and able to follow written directions since that is our primary mode of
communicating with you. We get so many good applicants that don't follow
instructions - so if you actually do, you will have significantly better chance
than someone who doesn't. It is simply a method for us to screen applicants.
I am spelling it out as plain as can be in writing, so if you are not going to
follow these instructions, please don't bother to apply. It is disappointing,
because in fact 70% or more of the applicants (some of them incredibly talented)
do not follow instructions.
Thanks - we look forward to seeing your sample and portfolio.
P.S. We have been scammed before with upfront payments, so unfortunately
we do not pay upfront before the job starts
