Learning Designers are responsible for the educational quality of products in one or more domains, such as math literacy. Learning Designers work on multiple projects simultaneously, and design and direct from a learning-forward perspective. They also research competitive products, curate third-party content, and serve as a resource across the company on topics associated with their expertise.
Duties & Responsibilities
Be an internal expert on the intersection of children, technology, and learning with a special focus on a specific curricular domain (e.g., Math) or a more general expertise in early elementary education.
Articulate learning objectives, design curricular questions to meet objectives, level curriculum to reflect various age ranges, and weave education into entertaining experiences.
Review materials and product prototypes and make design recommendations.
Maintain a library of related resources and external consultants.
Stay current on related scholarly and business trends.
Education & Experience
Knowledge of how children learn and develop from infancy through adolescence, especially ages 2-9 years.
Deep expertise on how children learn and/or hot to design educational content in one or more curriculum domains.
Familiar with traditional and innovative strategies for teaching, learning, and assessment in both formal and informal settings.
5+ years of experience teaching with, or designing, technology-enhanced learning materials in informal learning environments (homes, museums, after-school programs) or early childhood classrooms.
Familiar with mobile App development processes a plus.
Experience planning and conducting workshops.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Very organized, attention to detail, and self-motivated.
Strong dedication to helping children achieve their potential.
Master or Phd Degree in Child Development, Education, the Learning Sciences, or related fields.
