Multimedia Director needed for a 60-90 second e-Learning video on portrait photography
Closed - This job posting has been filled and work has been completed.
We are a team from Stanford University under a tight deadline and are looking for a team to help us create the content for a 60-90 second video aimed at teaching individuals new to photography the basics of portrait photography. Specifically, the content team will be responsible for writing a script for the video and creating a 5 question multiple choice quiz. Once the script and quiz are completed, we will handoff them off to a multimedia team who will make the video.
For this project, we are looking to recruit an education expert with a thorough understanding of teaching and online learning techniques, two content experts with extensive knowledge on portrait photography and a multimedia director who will advise the content team and will then serve as the director on the multimedia team. Once the team is recruited, the script and quiz for the project will need to be completed within 4 or 5 hours so that it can be handed over to the multimedia team and finished before our deadline.
This role has two important parts. Initially, the multimedia director will be responsible for working with the education expert and the content experts to come up with a general format for the video. Specifically, the multimedia director needs to make sure that the format and structure decided upon can be completed within a short period of time with readily available resources. Therefore, the multimedia director will need to check in and collaborate with: 1) the education expert at the beginning of the project when the outline is being created; 2) the content experts as they are fleshing out the outline with content; 3) the education expert and the content experts as they write and finalize the script and quizzes. Ultimately, the multimedia director is responsible for making sure that he or she will be able to work with a separate multimedia team to turn the completed draft of the script into an engaging and interactive video that teaches the material and hopefully results in high scores on the quiz.
Once the content team and the multimedia director agree on a general format for the video, the multimedia director will be responsible for recruiting and managing a team of oDesk workers with the skills needed to complete the project. Ideally, the team would include a scriptwriter, voice over and animator/illustrator or the equivalent of these roles depending on the skills needed. The end goal of this project will be to have a 60-90 second youtube video that effectively communicates and teaches the material in a highly engaging, entertaining and interactive way. Ideally, once the director recruits the multimedia team, the video would be completed within 5-8 hours. Therefore, it is imperative that the director takes into account the time constraints when deciding on the format and recruiting team members. For example, we are ok with an animation “sketch” instead of a high fidelity color animation.
We are looking for an individual with the following skills, experiences and expertise:
- Prior experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and content creators to create interactive and engaging videos
- A thorough understanding of the needs and constraints needed to complete a 60-90 second video in a short period of time.
- Ability to create a highly engaging video that is appropriate and understandable to an audience who has no experience with portrait photography
- Capable of recruiting a multimedia team with the skills needed to finish the video within 5-8 hours.
- Excitement about the final product
- Prior experience creating teaching or e-learning materials is a plus

-- Will have access to Google+, Google Hangouts, Google Docs/Forms and Skype
