At SmartNoter, we reimagine K-12 education to bring it back to the future. We create mobile/web experiences and resources that empower students, teachers and parents in ways unimaginable before the cloud-based technological revolution. We believe digital innovation will change the future of education and improve student mastery. Why can’t school be both fun and effective? At SmartNoter we create opportunities that engage and inspire students while helping teachers and parents to reach every individual with customized guidance and instruction.
We are looking for someone who routinely puts users first, and takes pride in creating the best possible user experience across all use cases. The successful candidate will combine extraordinary visual taste and talent with well-structured HTML/CSS coding techniques.
In this startup environment, you will be wearing many hats, including, but not limited to, creating mockups, contributing to web and mobile app design, and creating HTML assets to hand off to development. You may be asked to create something that the world has never seen before, and should welcome the challenge and opportunity of bringing something entirely new to the global village.
Your work will be seen by millions of people and will facilitate even larger numbers of interactions. You’ll be surrounded by a team of top-notch engineers, business minds and educators, and you’ll be just as comfortable interacting with all of these phenotypes. Our team is top-notch, and we want you to make it even better.
Your job will be to help us hit the business target by creating a user interface that people love to look at and want to use. Simplicity isn’t enough – clarity is the key. You think about how people interpret the objects on the screen. What they think about, what moves them, what frustrates them, what makes them happy. You know that the right design decision can make all the difference.
You don’t mind throwing something out in favor of a better idea or implementation, even well into a project. While we’re very pragmatic about code, it is important that your design/code is easy to change in response to feedback.
Lastly, you understand that copywriting is part of design. Great aesthetics with weak words are poor designs. You should care about how things are phrased as much as you care about how they look.
What you'll be doing:
§ Develop functional prototypes to prove out features and interactions and enable iterative design/research
§ Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to define/refine new features and user experience improvements
