Job Description

We are creating a database of diseases that cats can inherit from their parents. We need you to read the definition then write two paragraphs explaining the disease. We need it written in easy to understand UK English because pet owners will be reading it.

1. The name of the disease
2. What is it?
3. How the disease is inherited
4. What this means for the dog & you

Your Job:
You will write two paragraphs. The tone of the writing will be overall focused on how this can affect the pet and what can go wrong. Not too alarmist but professional and to the point. In some cases you will need to buffer out the amount of words so it fits into the clearly defined character count - See below.

Paragraph 1
This is an overview of the disease and contains all the key points.
- Paragraph length must be 600 - 650 characters (Including Spaces)
- NO line breaks in paragraph

Paragraph 2
This is a more detailed explanation of the disease
- Paragraph length must be 1,070 - 1,100 characters (Including Spaces)
- At least one break in the paragraph but no more than 2

It is very important that the character length is adhered to because a database is putting together these articles using InDesign so the character count will mean the paragraph fits in the correct section.

Also you must have a very good understanding of English and you must know how to write in Fluent English. NOT BROKEN ENGLISH because Australians and people from the UK will be reading this. Very important!

Common signs are bloody diarrhea, bleeding under the skin, possible respiratory difficulties due to bleeding into the chest or around airways, weakness, paralysis, or even sudden death due to bleeding into the brain or spinal cord. Once diagnosed your vet will discuss ways to manage this lifelong problem. Periodic blood transfusions will generally be required.

Paragraph 2 Example:
Bleeding due to a deficiency in specific clotting. Hemophilia is one of the few sex-linked traits in dogs and is carried by females but affects mostly males. Dogs may experience few or no signs. Where more severe, you may see signs of a problem at a fairly early age. Your pup may have prolonged bleeding associated with the loss of baby teeth, or unexplained areas of bleeding under the skin.

Common signs are bloody diarrhea, bleeding under the skin, possible respiratory difficulties due to bleeding into the chest or around airways, weakness, paralysis, or even sudden death due to bleeding into the brain or spinal cord.

Once a bleeding disorder is suspected, specialized laboratory tests are carried out to diagnose the specific disorder, your vet will discuss ways to manage this lifelong problem. These include being alert for signs of bleeding episodes in your dog, and tips on housing and maintenance so as to minimize risks of bleeding. Periodic blood transfusions will generally be required.
