Your job will be to develop a block-level design of an incubator. The incubator needs to maintain a 20-liter volume of air at 37 Celsius or 42 Celsius with 0.5 C accuracy.
1. Determine the energy required to heat and maintain 20 L of air at 42 C in an insulated container (1/2 inch thick styrofoam) surrounded by ambient temperature air (23 C).
2. Pick components from sparkfun.com (or mcmaster.com) that could be used to implement a prototype of the system. You will need to pick an appropriate heater (power resistor / peltier + heatsink? Heating pads?), control electronics (MOSFET?) and power supply. Plan on using a LM135 precision temperature sensor (TO-92 package) for sensing unless you can explain a better alternative.
3. Create a circuit diagram based on your design using upverter.com. After verifying your design makes sense, I will build a prototype.
