We have an issue on this Joomla site: OutputLinks.com
A component is integrating Google Custom Search engines into searches and display of search results. It works fine, except for the Special Interests section. In the drop-down menu for Special Interests, some URLs with specific searches are set as URL links with menu items: Customer Communication Management, In Plant, Print Stream Comparision and Transformation, QR Codes. Businesses sponsor these special interest searches and I've configured different modules to appear in the right panel, depending on the search. So if Konica Minolta sponsors "in plant" searches, the Konica Minolta module is supposed to appear when the URL contains q=in+plant.
The regular Joomla menu assignment can't match a module to a URL, so I am using an extension called "Advanced Module Manager" that can do this. So a sponsored banner ad is matched for each of the following searches contained in the URLs: q=in+plant, q=customer+communication, q=qr+codes, q=print+stream+comparison. I also have the regular right modules set to NOT display when the URL contains these queries.
At one point, it worked like a charm. No problems. A few days later, it stopped working properly and began acting strangely. The modules aren't doing what they are supposed to do. Most often, one of the modules ends up showing for ALL of the search results. It's usually Pitney Bowes, but sometimes QR Codes. Sometimes, they don't display at all.
I've searched out this problem at length with the developer of Advanced Module Manager and we have confirmed that the module is working and the URLs do contain the URL match the modules are looking for. Something else is going wrong. It may be something to do with the cache or the way the Google Search component caches or operates.
I am looking for someone who can fix this problem so that all the modules will match properly with their URL assignments, based on search queries. This will require someone who can carefully examine what is currently happening, identify the problem and implement a solution.
I can't answer any applications for at least 1 week, as I mentioned, but if you are confident you can complete this task, I would like to hear from you. I can't hire someone to try solve the problem and fail, but I will gladly pay the right price and more for the person who can get this done. If that's you, let me know.
