German Translator Needed for Large Job
Closed - This job posting has been filled and work has been completed.
We are looking for a native German speaker and language-oriented person to translate a large amount of English text to German for speech therapy apps. Portions of this job require some creative re-writing for linguistically appropriate items, so it is not straight-up translation. If not from Germany, familiarity with how the language is different in Germany is required. Translator must also have access to an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch with iOS5 or newer. A copy of the app will be provided to reference photos to ensure any created items are appropriate for the accompanying photos.
We are looking for a fixed price for the project to be completed on a phased schedule with 1/3 payment on delivery of each phase.
Phase 1 Delivery to Translator: immediate
Phase 1 Deadline: March 31, 2014
Phase 2 Delivery to Translator: March 3, 2014
Phase 2 Deadline: April 7, 2014
Phase 3 Delivery to Translator: March 17, 2014
Phase 3 Deadline: April 21, 2014
All translation/writing must be of the highest quality and free from typographic, spelling & grammatical errors. Translations must be appropriate for use in educational apps for all ages of users and free from profanity, racism, or other prejudice. Whenever possible, the vocabulary and grammatical structure should conform to the most standard and widely used form of the language as to be mutually intelligible by all speakers of the language. Where conflict arises, we are looking for the most accepted form of the word or phrase in Germany. As this is a language-learning application that will be used by experts in language, errors in spelling and grammar are not acceptable, so please budget time for proofreading.
All applicants are asked to download Language TherAppy Lite for free from the App Store. You will be translating the full version of Reading TherAppy & Naming TherAppy as well as the localization information for all 4 apps. Look at the 20 sample items in Reading TherAppy Lite and 5 sample items in Naming TherAppy Lite in each of the 3 modes to help you estimate the difficulty and time required for Phase 1 of the project and price your fee accordingly.
After receiving your quotes, for any applicants we are interested in hiring, we will then send you a spreadsheet to translate the sample items in the Lite apps. You will submit this spreadsheet as a sample of your work along with your final quote. In this way, you will see the format of the file you will be required to translate and we will be able to provide you with feedback on the items you have translated. We are only interested in working with translators who can commit to the full scope of work and the deadlines specified. We will make a final decision after this.
