Social Weight loss platform
Closed - This job posting has been filled.
I am a recent grad from the Cornell MD/MBA program and am currently working at a large management consulting company. I am in need of an enthusiastic, detail oriented, and experienced technical person/team to help me design and implement a mobile app and website (web first) for an innovative social weight loss platform. The high level concept is that new members will be able to find a mentor on the site "like them" who will engage and motivate them to create healthier habits in small steps.
The key processes that need to be created for the minimum viable product are: 0) Landing page design
1) Member sign up / Mentor sign up
2) Member selects a mentor who is close to themself in weight loss goals, lifestyle, etc
3) Mentor is able to create a personal weight loss program that members can follow
4) Mentor can engage members via site and mobile app
5) Tracker on site for member progress
I have already coded these features, but need quite a bit of help in refining features as well as creating a better user experience. Given I have ~2000 lines of code already, I need somebody who has experience with Ruby on Rails, HAML, AJAX / jquery, twitter bootstrap with LESS, postgres SQL. I am using github and heroku for hosting. Knowledge of mobile development is a bonus but not essential at this point. Also, given the work is going to be very detail oriented, need someone who is very professional who can write clean code, and is DEPENDABLE in regard to quality and timelines.
I am very excited about utilizing normal people who have lost weight to directly help other normal people who want to lose weight as a unique weight loss platform (vs the one-size-fits all programs that exist today). Please inquire if you are interested and are motivated to help solve the obesity epidemic that exists in the US and other industrialized nations today. This will be a fun project that utilizes best practices from existing concepts applied to helping people lose weight (a very difficult task).
Thanks so much and look forward to hearing from you soon.
