Script to build gcc on solaris 10

Closed - This job posting has been filled and work has been completed.

Job Description

Requirement: I need a script that will compile the latest versions of gcc, cmake and make from source on a clean install of Solaris 10, running in VirtualBox on a PC without an Internet connection.

Background: Solaris 10 only comes with gcc 3.4, and this is too old to compile many of the libraries required for my current project.

I have spent days trying to build gcc, and can't afford any more time trying to figure it out. I am therefore commissioning a script to do it that will automate the whole process.

Deliverables will be as follows:

1. Names, versions and links to source code packages required to install and compile recent versions of make, cmake and gcc (4.7 or later). I will download these and put them on the Solaris desktop.

2. A bash shell script that unpacks the various packages in the correct order, runs 'configure', 'gmake' and 'gmake install' where necesssary, and sets up required values for PATH and LD\_LIBRARY\_PATH if necessary.

The whole process should be as automated and hands-off as possible, once the source packages have been copied into the Solaris environment.

Notes:

I have tried the steps listed in http://saurus.steg0.eu/2010/12.gcc/gcc-4.5.2-sol10.html (Building gcc 4.5.2 on Solaris 10) without success - running gmake always ends in compilation failure.

The successful bidder will set up VirtualBox and Solaris 10 on their own hardware and verify that the script can be run to completion on a clean install of Solaris.

All the software in this project is open source or free.

I expect this will be a straightforward project for someone who has worked with these tools and environment before.
