I have 1 main business goal:
Drive quality traffic to my Website, helping to increase sales & improve my conversion.
I intend to do this through a combination of PR, Sales & Marketing. It's the marketing part that I require help with - specifically online marketing. And even more specifically SEO & SEM, as I have the other stuff (e.g. social media) covered.
From an activity-perspective, my overall goals are two-fold:
1. Get myself indexed well in Google’s organic listings, by understanding WHICH keywords my potential customers might be using to search for my product or my competitors’ products and implementing a strategy to achieve this, ONLY AFTER the understanding is done.
2. Cement the SEO efforts with a targetted PPC campaign, for both Google & LinkedIn.
A little about my business..... I sell information to big companies. My business is called Cost of Living Reports, and this is exactly what I sell. I have 4 different product for the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar & the GCC. Based out of Dubai (UAE), my customers are large domestic & multi-national companies usually with several thousand employees. My reports are usually purchased by 70% HR professional (senior-level) and sometimes 30% finance professionals.
70% of my customers come from UAE buyers, 20% from the Middle East (excluding UAE) and the final 10% from everywhere else. It's the 10% part that has the most potential i.e. large companies with HQ's in North America or Europe with offices in the Middle East, looking for surveys & reports to eliminate guess work and use my reports to benchmark and shape decisions.
If you search for things like “Cost of Living UAE” or “Cost of Living Survey UAE” you’ll notice we actually appear on the 1st page. But for more generic keyword strings, like “Compensation report UAE”, “Cost of living Middle East surveys” we don’t. And we're not optimized AT ALL for our other 3 products for Qatar, Saudi & GCC.
I'm not doing any PPC at all. I know how to use the Adwords tool, but don't trust myself to do a good enough job.
My main competitor are Mercer (http://www.imercer.com/col) & Bayt (http://www.bayt.com/en/employers/r
To make matters worse, Bayt STOLE our report format, along with much of our report data. To make matters EVEN worse, they have also pretty much copied everything we do - including the marketing material on their Website. Unfortunately, the laws in the UAE and my financial limitations make it very difficult to do anything other than simply UP MY GAME!
WEBSITE & DOMAINS
Current site can be viewed at www.costoflivinguae.com, which gives more information on what's included in my reports, but it's out of date, as it only includes my UAE & Qatar reports, and this year we're adding Saudi Arabia & GCC to the list. Note, the first 3 are COUNTRY reports the GCC will be a REGIONAL report covering all Gulf countries i.e. UAE, Qatar, KSA, Iraq, Kuwait & Oman.
I'm redoing the Website, based on the same template with a slightly different colour scheme, logo and layout. I needed to evolve it without redoing it completely. You can see it here: http://www.syspire.com/nick/col/in
Domain-wise the site sits on www.costoflivinguae.com, but I’ve also registered www.costoflivingksa.com, www.costoflivingqatar.com and www.costoflivingreports.com. I’d like them ALL to go to: www.costoflivingreports.com because we now sell multiple reports and only have 1 Website - not individual websites.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME & MY EXPECTATIONS
I'm English, and have been in Dubai most of my life. I spent half the year in Chicago where my fiance is doing her PHD. I have a passion for Formula 1 & UFC! Big weekend coming up for both! This is my business and because it's still small, every penny counts :). If interested, I'd love to hear more from you, but not interested in discussing with anyone who's not prepared to take the time to understand the brief above. SEO & SEM are very personal to my business, so it's paramount I work with someone who believes they can help me meet my goals and work alongside me, making themselves available for Skype sessions and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.
Having a background in software, I don't intend to waste your time having to educate me on the intricacies of SEO & SEM, as I'm aware of much of it, but I do reserve the right to push back and ask questions!
