Featured Writer - long term (if well-received)
Closed - This job posting has been filled and work has been completed.
We are looking for one, possibly two commanding writer(s) capable of constructing pieces that are both informative and argumentative.
The purpose of the site is allow all users to voice their opinions by creating their own threads, as well as debating thread topics in the designated comment sections.
You, the featured writer, will be showcased on the home page for all to see, and will have your work pushed to our various social media outlets via our social media director.
We were live for only a month before we realized a lot needed to be changed. That being said, the current ArgueThat.com is not up-to-date, and your work will only be featured as part of the re-launch.
However, in that one month period, we've seen more than 2,000 visitors to the site, staying for an average of nearly 6 minutes.
Now, as a featured author, you must create compelling, educated pieces that will instigate discussions. For example, with the recent Connecticut shooting, one may easily write a paper that Mental Health Research needs more funding, or that Gun Control needs heavier enforcement for X,Y,Z reasons.
Our headline categories are: Business, Entertainment, Health, Hobbies, News&Politics, Religion, Science&Tech, and Sports.
There is a lot of freedom with this gig, we just ask that for the first few topics you run it by us first.
All pieces will fall within 600-1200 words. On occasion we will ask some authors to compose lengthier pieces, upwards of 3,000, maybe.
Compensation starts at $5 per 100 words; however nothing is set in stone. We are still fresh meat to the world of internet communities, so anything can happen.
Keep in mind we're looking for a long-term relationship, hence the Jan 1, 2014 end date.
We are currently throwing around the idea that we're looking to fund one article a week per author.... possibly more.
If interested, please send writing samples and a list of interests to Admin@ArgueThat.com
Not sure how the oDesk system handles this part of the transaction.
Start Date is To Be Determined... Though we'll happily begin a pre-release stockpile if you are interested.
