T-Shirt Design

Closed - This job posting has been filled and work has been completed.

Job Description

Hi. I am starting a small t-shirt company and I need an experienced artist to make designs for me. In the event that I like your work, you may have lots of projects for the future.

*Proficient English is a must
*Must be very experienced with making t shirt designs
*MUST be able to follow directions and not overlook any small details (the reason I say this is, most of the designs require certain specifications for printing)

I will have several future projects, and I need someone that is dependable, experienced, ARTISTIC, and has a natural eye for these projects. Most of the time I will supply a rough draft and ask you to recreate it with a little creativity and detail.

T shirt design experience is a preferred quality, but not a requirement if you have plenty of design experience.

I have attached a photo of a rough draft of the picture that I want. I DO NOT WANT THIS EXACT PICTURE. It is a rough draft and I copy and pasted many of the photos on there, all work needs to be original.

Image CRITERIA:
1. This is a design for the back of a t-shirt
2. I want it to be in black and white
3. Mainly, I want the whole image to be white, and everything to look like it was pencil drawn. The white areas could use some filling in with misc. marks or designs.
4. The red on the picture is INSTRUCTIONS only. Do not place this on the picture.
5. The design must meet the following requirements for the "printing company" I am working with:
**************************************************************************************

.
At a minimum we will need printable artwork in one of the following file formats:

Bitmaps: Most files with the extensions .jpg, .tif, .gif, and .psd can be used. This art will only be used as guides for art services. Recommended resolution for bitmaps is 150 dpi to 300 dpi.

To avoid the possiblity of being charged art fees follow these preparation instructions:

Artwork must be vector art. EPS, PDF , AI , CDR are the vector formats we accept. However, a file with that extension is not necessarily a vector file. We would have to inspect it and confirm.

All fonts used in the design must be converted to curves/outlines. To avoid errors in missing fonts and altered formats, please provide all text converted to curves/outlines.

Minimum line thickness is .014" (or 1 point). We also request that the minimum knockout space be .028" (or 2 points).
1 Point Stroke

Stroke Thickness
All strokes in artwork must be at least 1-point to ensure the design prints properly.

Check Stroke Thickness
Make a line in your document I and change the color so that it stands out against your artwork.
Set the stroke to 1 Point.
Test the line throughout the document, making sure all thin areas of your artwork are at least as thick as your line.
Once you are finished checking your artwork, delete the line from your file.

Minimum knock-out space is .028" (or 2 points in Adobe Illustrator).
2 Point Stroke

Knockout Space
Having a 2-point knockout throughout the artwork ensures that all detail in the design will be
maintained once it is pressed on the garment.

Checking Knockout Space
Make a line in your document and change the color so that it stands out against your artwork.
Set the stroke to 2 Point.
Test the line throughout the document, making sure all knock-out areas of your artwork are at least as thick as your line.
Once you are finished checking your artwork, delete the line from your file.

Halftones and Gradients should be solid editable vector art. Halftones and gradients should not be broken into smaller parts or expanded.

All gradients, half tones and/or shading must be formatted as a solid shape. As a rule of thumb, gradients can be achieved when using a solid lighter color and applying the darker color over as a gradient ,creating the effect needed (i.e. fire, flames can be recreated using Red Gradient on solid Orange or Yellow). Consider using a solid color (standard or PMS color) rather than using a gradient to achieve a specific color. Check that artwork does not contain 0% of a color as it will not print. Check for unwanted gradients present in artwork. KEEP IN MIND that gradients are achieved on a case by case basis depending on the colors used and your artwork. We reserve the right to have a final decision when printing your job in order to meet our quality control standards.

Resolution should be 300 dpi or larger for ColorTrans to ensure maximum quality.

Text located anywhere in the artwork must be at least a point size of 35 to print clearly. This size is based on a standard block font (ex. Arial). Different typestyles may require to be larger.
Text outside the design must be vector and converted to outlines/curves.
