For each city (or county) government X, read its zoning ordinance online and report which districts allow apartments (I can work with you, I am an expert at this)
Closed - This job posting has been filled and work has been completed.
- To do this job you will need a google account so that you can use Google Drive.
- I will place a list of municipalities inside a shared Google drive folder that you have access to. For each one you do, you are to mark a column in the online spreadsheet saying you have done so.
- This job will continue indefinitely. Once you are familiar and competent with the assignment you may subcontract it out if you wish. If you do so your role will change from a researcher to an overseer and your job would be to fact-check more than anything.
If I were to give you a list of cities and counties in the United States, and ask you to, for each city, town or county in a list I give you:
a. create a new STRUCTURED, UNIFORMLY AND DESCRIPTIVELY NAMED spreadsheet (to be possibly read in the future by a computer script) for that city, town or county.
b. find its zoning ordinance on either municode or its website (easy to find with google--"muni_name, US_state_name zoning ordinance" OR "muni_name, state_name municode")
c. use that zoning ordinance to DETERMINE WHICH ZONING DISTRICTS ALLOW FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF MULTIFAMILY (APARTMENTS) and then, for each district store in separate columns:
i. its long name (something like "Medium Density Multifamily")
ii. its code (something like "MF-18")
iii. the maximum allowable dwelling units per acre (if available) (I can teach you all about this)
iv. whether or not the land use (apartments) is BY RIGHT or CONDITIONAL (I can teach you all about this)
Do you think you could do it? I'm sort of an expert at doing this and can teach you everything I know about how to do this quickly and thoroughly. Will give most instruction via youtube screencasts which I can make fairly quickly.
Don't worry if you answer any of the questions below wrong, just answer to the best of your ability. You may do research before you answer them.
