Your DNA - Writers wanted to help explain their own genotypes
Closed - This job posting has been filled.
We are hiring multiple individuals with a science/medical background to provide feedback on and improve our online personal genome services.
Specifically, we want you to (1) get your own DNA analysed, at our expense and using our software but also confidentially (i.e. we won't know your private results), (2) join our online wiki-community, with a username known to us, and then (3) improve the online summaries associated with at least 5 genetic loci from either your top results or that you have the most interest in.
You should have previous experience understanding relevant scientific publications, such as those discovering the associations between DNA variations (such as SNPs) and risk for medical conditions. Some familiarity with wiki editing (e.g. Wikipedia) would be useful but can be learned quickly enough.
We do what we do to make scientific findings as useful to people as possible, and we are not profit driven. We'd like to work with others who feel the same and who are interested in learning more about their own DNA and sharing that knowledge with others.
Note: for shipping and legal reasons, applicants from the US (other than New York and Maryland) and Canada are preferred.
