Moving CakePHP / MySQL Social App to AWS with CloudSearch, NewRelic & CloudFlare
Closed - This job posting has been filled.
We are about to launch our social media management toolset along the lines of https://www.viralheat.com/ and https://www.ubervu.com/. The heaviest components of it will be MySQL database usage and connections to external APIs. The app is built in CakePHP.
Obviously the project begins with putting it up onto AWS. If we could fit in the free micro-tier during the first month or two of beta testing when we expect very light usage, that would be great, but we're committed to providing proper resources.
We would like to set up our server as a remote Git server so we can push directly to the server.
We want to install NewRelic on our instance so that we can begin to understand where the app bottlenecks are so we can fix them up before scaling.
We'd also like to have CloudFlare Railgun integrated to help reduce bandwidth and speed up the site for the end user.
We plan on launching our beta by the end of August / early September. I'm looking for someone who can recommend the best implementation and then execute on it.
Soon after launching the beta, we want to integrate some sort of fast distributed search, probably SOLR, SPHINX, ElasticSearch or Amazon CloudSearch. Being experienced in these areas to give recommendations and help us integrate them is a huge plus.
If you haven't been involved with actual scaled implementations of most of these products in the past, please don't apply. At the end of the day, we want a seasoned professional with a lot of experience who can tell us the best way to implement things and help us optimize for a great end user experience. When we find the right person, we would like to have a long term relationship to have you be our go to sysadmin.
