We are seeking a design for an IC motor drive for a 6000 rpm permanent magnet brushed DC motor that draws up to 300 amps at 12V. This is for prototyping purposes only, and need not be economically efficient as a production design.
The drive must be able to accept two forms of 5V DC control signal - PWM from an Arduino and analog from a potentiometer. The output will be 12V PWM, up to 300A. It must be capable of two quadrant operation - positive rotation with positive torque, and negative rotation with positive torque (i.e., a reciprocating system). Therefore, the design must incorporate some type of resistor bank for dynamic braking (the negative rotation, positive torque mode of operation).
The power source will be a standard lead acid automotive battery (or parallel bank of automotive batteries). Expected power is ~100 watts at 50% duty cycle, although the drive should be able to power the 12V motor's design specification of 3600W at 5% duty cycle (~45 sec on, 15 min off).
IGBT, MOSFET, SCR or any other switching components are acceptable. Manufacturing will be completed by a US-based contract manufacturer such as 4pcb.com, unless the designer can facilitate cheaper manufacturing.
