Linux server optimization and troubleshooting
Closed - This job posting has been filled and work has been completed.
A linux SysAdmin is required to troubleshoot a problem with our server configuration. We have encountered a problem on our e-commerce website whereby after pushing the "complete order" button, it is taking far too long to load the corresponding "fraud check" page and redirect to the payment gateway (20-40 secs). The rest of our website works well and it is just this final part that is letting the system down and causing our customers to abandon their transaction.
We have encountered this problem before and it was somehow caused by the dovecot email listener. This program was disabled on the server and the problem went away. However, the problem resurfaced when we added more RAM to the server.
We need a contractor to look at our server set-up, review error logs etc and determine why this problem is occurring and fix it.
We have a LAMP server set-up so you will need to be familiar with Apache, Debian, MySQL, and PHP. We have a WordPress database and a billing software database (WHMCS) on the site.
We are a small but growing company and contractors might be interested in this role because we will most certainly have more SysAdmin work in the future. If you do a good job we will use you again.
