The book is (tentatively) called "Dear God: Letters Unsent". The book has a range of letters - from hope, to despair, faith or loss. The writers are from all over the world, and cover nearly every religion you can think of. Many of the letters speak of unsurpassed joy and give thanks, others are horribly angry at God- because they are so hurt by what they feel he allowed to happen in their lives. The mantra of the book is non-judgment, and I've been blessed that people have been so incredibly open with both the best and worst parts of their lives -- and sometimes, themselves. So if there is a letter from someone who has abandoned his faith and is searingly angry (aka deeply wounded) over the fact that his son was murdered, or someone else cannot understand why God didn't intervene when they were molested as a child for years I don't want anything giving the perception that they "shouldn't" feel the way they do-hurt, dejected, angry- or that they can't be honest about it. So often people just need to be heard and only then can healing actually start-burying and denying pain for years typically isn't helpful and so often it's what these people have been asked or forced to do. With that said there are also heartwarming stories of love, or overcoming the worst in life and emerging better, in all ways. In summation, yes, this is a religious book, but it's emphasis is on being open to understanding people as they are, and helping them heal, and move forward.
