Goal is to create an Adobe Illustrator file of the Robinson projection map of the world to be printed in high quality(by myself) at a size of approximately 1.3m x 0.720m
The map will be a heat map to visually show solar irradiance. See example link: http://solargis.info/imaps/#loc=25
The file should be layered: plain map layer, country boundaries, major cities, and of course the coloured solar irradiance.
Data available: I have solar irradiance data in excel for every 0.5 degree increment of latitude and 0.5degree increment of longitude. This resolution is equal to 360 rows x 720 columns = 259,200 individual data points. Each individual data point ranges from a value of 551 (low sunlight) to 2548 (a lot of sunlight). This range should be used as basis for a color gradient
Although I have data for every half degree of longitude and latitude, I only want the solar irradiance heat map displayed on land (i.e. water will be left another colour).
Visually, this is a example work of how I want it to look, but with the solar gradient. http://www.futuremaps.co.uk/colour
